“It is impossible to talk about the landscape without being a poet or quoting another.” S.Freud
The Spiaggia del Castello, the Baia dei Sogni, the Nagge are some of the names you will hear the people of Rapallo use to indicate ‘beaches’. Do not, however, expect vast stretches of sand: these are scenic rocky ravines, tiny coastal cliffs, small stony creeks that allow you to reach the sea. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a more traditional beach, you can choose one of the bathing establishments in the centre or head for the hamlet of S. Michele di Pagana, with its three small pebble bays.
Fact: Even Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, was fascinated by Rapallo’s rocky coastline and described it enthusiastically in a letter to his brother!
