Montallegro – Chiavari

A 9kms Panoramic excursion among centenary holm oaks, chestnut trees and farmhouses!

Starting from Montallegro (600 m a.s.l., reachable by cable car, bus or on foot), take the path behind the Sanctuary, passing the Pilgrim’s House. The slight slope, which crosses a splendid holm oak wood, leads to a crossroads: descending along the Tuia path you return to Rapallo, while turning left you first reach Passo Colla (525 m a.s.l.), recognizable thanks to the presence of a newsstand, and then, the Anchetta Pass (466 m a.s.l.) where the view sweeps over the Gulf of Tigullio. Continue for a stretch along an asphalted road and then along paths and stairways that lead to the Chiavari hamlet of Sanpierdicanne. The station is about 2 km away.

Curiosity: Along the way there are still some funiculars once used to transport timber logs from the heights to the sea.
